Shortly after 2am, my 7 year old daughter had a coughing fit. She was getting breaths in between the coughs, but if the coughing got worse, she wouldn't be able to breathe. I decided to call Healthlink first. Kim, the nurse who answered, did a really quick assessment, and after 1 particular response said, "You are going to take your daughter and drive her to the Stollery." And that was it, we hung up and drove there. No indecision about what we might have to do, or possible solutions, she heard my answer and made a decision and our daughter was given great care at the Stollery Emerg Dept and is recovering from the episode at home.
