I am a volunteer with CCASA and we had a client that needed to access the CSART team through the ER department. She was too embarrassed and ashamed to walk in on her own. I called the main switchboard at the Sheldon Chumir and the person who answered was amazing. She was understanding and caring and went out of her way to help our client by offering options for them to get them into care safely. I wanted to give her a huge thank you because in the world today, it is hard to find people who go above and beyond. It is hard enough to be a survivor of sexual assault, and have to face all the clinical and legal faces. To have some kindness at the beginning makes an enormous difference!
